To Kate and EileenPatricia
You have carefully and elegantly explained the quandary that we all face. There is only one person who can decide on the efficacy of any symptomatic treatment, and that's the person who's having the symptoms.
I sometimes feel this disease is taken away from us, maybe particularly in the elderly.
I an NOT advocating a course of action to anyone. But all PWP should take time to analyse what is really happening to their own bodies. If you are better with the drugs, carry on. If they make no difference or, worse still, makes matters worse, then stop taking them
My case can be reviewed at

Cheers for now

Just an update for anyone who's interested in this experiment.
I have been off all PD meds for over a month now. It started quite well but in the last few days I have been really tired and sick. I don't know if it's a natural cyclic downturn of the PD, or the effects of the lack of drugs.
Either way, I still feel like I've been in a car crash!!

Best wishes to all
Chris

As I had been warned by many people, I've just had to give up with the 'no tablet' life. It all got the best of me I'm afraid and I had to restart Sinemet. Oh well, At least I know what PD is like without the meds.......'orrible!
Cheers all!

Hi Spam95, I have just caught up with your blog, which I have found really interesting. I have often wondered how I might be without meds but when the neuro took me off my anti inflammatory tablets not so long ago, I lasted about a month or so and almost begged for them back. I was in so much pain and the stiffness was so bad I could hardly walk. That showed me very clearly that just because we feel ok'ish we are only functioning so because of the meds. Well done with your experiment and chalk it up to experience, if you hadn't done it you would have always been left wondering 'what if'?
Welcome back to the fold and I hope that you begin to feel the effects of the meds quickly.
regards
Glenchass

Your latest blog and posts are a bit alarming to me Nick.
O/h has had to come off one dose of Sinemet in the eve re adverse affects on the Lewy Body but thankfully so far it seems to have enabled him to sleep for longer at night. He hasn't taken a sleeping tab for 2 nights, and has had less horrendous night terrors.
In his case, sleeplessness was only a factor after drugs were introduced.
What, I wonder though will happen when the doseage is reduced further as the stiffness and pain are problems now?

Well, that's that! Thanks for your support and comments. I have had to start the tablets again so that ends the blog.
I'll concern myself with getting on with life. Humph!!
