As you know from other posts I promised update here it is; 'my lads' are undertakin a big bike ride this year and are struggling with aspects of the undertaking they had not forseen! C the eldest has really had to be talked into wearing lycra (not a fan) where as the younger M cant wait for the figure hugging shinyness (big fan).
Now as the lycra argument is settled the debate has moved on to how to avoid what is referred to as 'Chubb Rub' a condition I was blissfully unaware of, it comes down to one main discussion shave or wax? niether an attractive option.
The latest suggestion to build funds is a competative wax off which has to be undertaken with a certain amount of liquid anestesia. Oh the joy of youth!

Would it not be easier for the lads to join one of the official PUK events?
The one from London to Paris looks brilliant./
http://www.parkinsons.org.uk/support_us/events/cycling_events/cycle_london_to_paris.aspx/
That way they would have the full support of PUK in the event of injury and would have a planned route.
/
Going it alone for 750 miles is a bit dodgy. What if they dont make it?
Could cost them a fortune and reflects badly on PUK especially if the lads arent fit. (Dan looks like a bit of a robot to me lol)

Thanks for the suggestion it was suggested to them but they are very keen to do it they are planning their routes an will be supported along the way.
Yes it is costing them personally and they are students which makes their efforts the more laudable really. They are young and keen what can I say.
The lads are training hard and are determined not to let this beat them the support of the community is important to them.
Once again thanks for the support!!

HI everyone the preparation goes on and the sponsorship mounts!!!
The lads are all lycra'd up now and doin 50 miles a day minimum now; as the clock ticks towards the event in June.
There was a minor scare when one of the boys injured his knee in a testimonial footie match But everything is currently ok
The boys picked up a good donation today and are on target to exceed their goal
So if you can get behind their efforts go to http://www.justgiving.com/berlin-by-bicycle Thanks All

A Quick up date the lads are now joined by two friends all training like mad!! they came home for Easter Cycling from London to Birmingham in a day, 120 miles in all and some of it uphill!!
If that wasn't enough they have cycled back again today!! The trip starts properly on the 9th of June and they will take ten days to cycle to Berlin.
wITH Parkinson's awareness week coming up it would be good to raise the profile of the trip, if you would like to give or can publicise see link given earlier in the thread!
The continued support of the community and PUK remains important to the lads.
Thanks
