League is for grafters who need the money and aren't afraid to lose the odd limb to get it.

Union is for spoilt brats with nothing better to do than pretend and wish.

Hi Ray
that's true on the whole in England and Australia but I would say not true in Wales and NZ (though there is a pacific island bias towards league). Its true in Scottish cities but not in the borders (though the alternative is football). In France the league areas coincide with the regions of neanderthal genes, but that's surely a coincidence. In SA its largely a race divide between RU and football. In Papua New Guinea league is for the nice boys, I won't say what the bad boys (known as 'raskol' get up to.

Well, I didn't meet any of them, but there were some famous faces in Newbury this week - Jane Asher, Angela Rippon, Will Carling, and Henry Winkler - The Fonz.
