Sorry, but Welsh can't be a nationality as it's not a nation, merely a principality.

And Rugby Union is just a practice game for the kids. Rugby League is the only man's game.

Similarly Hull FC is the only adult rugby on Humberside. Hull KR is a "pretend" side for those from the East side with webbed feet.

Hi, you Little Ray of Sunshine,

You are right about Wales not, currently, being a country in that the ‘Laws in Wales Act’ of 1536 incorporated the then Principality of Wales into England, i.e. the English stole it, however the indigenous people of Wales will never recognise this incorporation which was forced upon them by the mixed races of England i.e. Romans, Vikings, Angles and Saxons, huegunots, gypsies commonly ( very commonly ) known as ‘the English’.

However, the coalition will no doubt wish to reduce costs even more, and hive Wales off to Plaid Cymru before the end of this Parliament – then we can charge decent prices to keep the English from sneaking over the Severn Bridge using illegally gained Blue Badges.

Now, on to the real reason for my reply -as a matter of fact, Rugby Union came first i.e the Rugby Football Union, from which the Northern Rugby Football Union ( notice the word Union – twice no mention of ‘league’ ) broke away in 1895 to form Rugby League – a somewhat junior sport..

I wasn’t there at the time of course, perhaps you were, but I have it on good authority that the only way in those days, to get Northerners to participate in any form of sporting activity, rather than spend their time gorging on fish & chips and downing copious amounts of Newcastle Brown, was to pay them , which of course was unnecessary in the ‘gentleman’s game’ of Rugby Union, so they had to split from the Union to do this.

RL is still predominantly a Northern sport, whereas RU is played and recognised the world over.

I understand that there may even be some famous English Rugby Union players, although I’ve not heard of any, and anyway they are unlikely to be as famous as Welsh players – 3 Grand Slams in 5 years – and it is even more unlikely that anyone has ‘heard of’ or met any famous RL players.

Perhaps, one day, RL will become as popular as RU, but I doubt it, ‘except int’ North’.

I thought Hull was a character with an Emu?????

I met with mike 700 and we chatted briefly....does that count.

I had a pee with Bernhard Langer at the 15th hole Wentworth.

Jean fergusson, Mariella in Last of the Summer Wine. Chatted for ages at a BBQ.

Robin Cook........I was not being investigated. Same BBQ.

Bogman - that would be an unpleasant surprise for the next person to retrieve their ball from the 15th.

Principalities and Kingdoms are mere administrative regions, nations are emotional states.

My wife had Rod Stewart as a baby sitter (she was the baby).

I once could have chatted to David Lange - he was standing all alone in the middle of a room after a meeting waiting for someone to speak to him. Nobody did.
