every body sleeping? The Herald X-word has been binned . I have been listening to a lot of "Spike" Milligan stuff on the radio - not just the Goons, but interviews (an amazing one with Anthony Clare) poetry readings. etc. SM died ten years ago. Seemed to me to be an amazingly compassionate and thoughtful person , not just the manic/depressive he is usually described as.

.
The wife of an old colleague of mine was a cousin of Spike's, and from what I recall the major issues he had with his life were workload and war/the War.
Back in the radio days we're talking typewriters and Tippex, not computers, and all everybody else involved did was turn up, be given a script by Spike, stand in front of a mike and have a darned good laugh.
Meanwhile the great man was up all night, every night, dreaming up plots and writing scripts, whilst also being committed to books, poems, appearances and records. Later came the Telegoons, Beachcomber and Q series on TV.
No wonder his brain imploded a few times!
