Thank you Ray and PB
Steeple & toastmaster look OK
I like Simply (as in Mick Hucknell?)
But they all 3 don't half mess up my X-word!
So:
a) go beyond swamp (7)
o ----- i
b) artist has instrument cut short to obtain food (7)
- - o - - - i
If anybody if fed up with me asking for help with these X-word clues, please do say. I shall not be offended, just tearing a bit more hair out!

No problem.
I'll work on them while I listen to the guitar of Les Paul on Sky Arts. Perfect!

Is this strange publication also available online, and if so does the online version include the crossword?

Morning badgers!
Gosh it's darned cold out there, it must be at least minus 200 again.
Step aside, o cosy creatures, my toeses have urgent business at the fireside!
