My pain in my upper arm feels like I have a blood pressure cuff on it, squeezing tight. It is the PD. It was a bit better with the Mirapexin but 6 months on the pain is increasing again, just part of the PD.

daer buzzicles, I am prescribed co-codamol to help with pain. In my case I think that the pain arises from muscle tension. I would suggest that you talk to your GP. Pain is not fun
With best wishes

Morning all . My husband has had upper arm shoulder neck pain for years . That is until he was prescribed a low dose , he finds it a great help also helps him sleep a little better .. Amitriptyline
Although an anti - depressant it is prescribed these days in the lower doses for nerve pain . I believe quite a few Parkinsons sufferers are taking it .

I get pain in upper arm, shoulder area and down back, but mainly after carrying things (got a buggy to push my shopping in now). I am sure I damaged those muscles when I lifted people in the care home and because they are weakened, they are more susceptible to parkinsons pain. I have tried to discuss this with various doctors but they never take my point on board. Right shoulder is twisted forward, Neuro said it is dystonia. The PD medication helps. I try to do exercises to strengthen the shoulder. I would not like to become hunched up. Is anyone else afraid of becoming very round shouldered?
I get the tense muscle feeling down my arm at night sometimes, but that is a different kind of pain. Take Baclofen for tenseness at night as I have mentioned in previous post.

Hi Buzzicles, Due to excruciating pain from shoulder to fingertips (L side) I've been given a few steroid injections in my shoulder, GP says this is quite common for pwp, I must admit although I'm scared of needles I look forward to next app later in the week. This is the best treatment for me.

Hi Polly,
Yes, I'm very concerned about becoming hunched over. Have seen negative effects on my dad and mom in law.
Asked a trainer at the gym what to do to counteract it. She said to do exercises that strengthen your back, hamstrings, and calves. All those muscles help keep you upright. Would ask a physical therapist for specific exercises/stretches since they depend on individual level of ability. Best wishes, Lin2
