Hi Joyce - well done. I recently told my work colleagues about my diagnosis and have had lots of support so hopefully you will be the same.
Today they have chosen PDS as the chosen charity for this year. We have dress down days on the last Friday of every month and money goes to a different charity every year, so I was well pleased today.
All the best
Lizzy

Joyce - brill!
I can't live with a lie, so I had to tell people. The fact has sort of dribbled out. It's a pest that some people seem to think I should have kept it to myself, but hey, shucks, it's not the way I do things.
Fortunately my boss was great about it - he has close relatives with the disease, so knows what I am up against. Another odd plus is that with the current economic climate, it is unlikely that my position would be filled if I vacated it. That thought has eased my conscience somewhat. Had it not been for that, I might have thought that I ought to get out and leave the job to someone who didn't have a poorly head. However, I still do a useful job, and it is a job that needs to be done. If I don't do it as well as I used to, if I fall down on it in certain respects, I, and most of my colleagues, all recognise that I'm a whole lot better than nothing.
So I do my best, and will continue doing so until inevitable redundancy in these economic climes catches me up. Sure its fighting with back against the wall, but that wall is rather comforting than not.

Joyce, love the poem!!! I'll be telling my work group at staff meeting on Wednesday, however, I do not yet have a diagnosis. I've decided to pare back my hours and change my role in the organization (since I'm a founder, I fortunately have that freedom). I expect that, like the others here, people will be quite supportive.
So glad it went well for you, and hope you do well for many years too!
