Hi All
I am newly diagnosed with PD so am really pleased to say hello to you all and look forward to giving and receiving lots of support!
Can somebody advise me about Azilect which I've recently been prescribed? Some of the Internet stuff I've read suggests avoiding beer, red wine and soya products, but my GP and pharmacist had never heard of this. As a red wine and beer loving vegetarian I hope they are right! Does anybody unnderstand this?
Cheers
Martin

I think small quantities of each are ok, just look out for any reactions. Sometimes pharmaceutical companies are a bit over zealous in covering their backsides, I think.

Hi Murpm
My other half has been on Azilect for nearly 4 years. We have never paid any heed to any of the dietary guidelines and his blood pressure remains low. I probably wouldnt recommend a diet of pate and red wine but am sure moderate amounts are fine!
good luck

Hi Murpm,
Sorry to hear you have PD. I was on Azilect for approximately 6 months and had many a good night on red wine, white wine, etc., and had no adverse affects. I came off azilect because I was loosing my hair, this is one of the many side affects that can occur.

Welcome, murpm! I'm afraid I can't help you with the med thing. Just beginning this journey myself, still not sure what I have. I hope you can still enjoy that occassional glass of wine!

I agree, murpm, it's great to know these good people are here! I've already learned more from them than from the doctors! my hubby is threatening to go with me next time to demand answers! haha!

Hi Murpm,
You are in the same predicament as me.I am not on medication at the moment but am pretty much struggling at times.Azilect if not prescribed was the med i was going to inquire about at my May appointment.I like you enjoy the odd drink at the weekend so hope there are no bad effects that way.Its Tulips advise on hair loss which concerns me.I suppose there are varying side effects with all meds.If somebody has reported a side effect it will be listed but not necessarily apply to all.
All the best
Titan
