I have absolutely no connection with the Nintendo company - but I really must tell everyone about this amazing package which I purchased a fortnight ago. The activities are exciting, challenging and much safer than the real thing!
Over the past 14 days I have played Tennis, Baseball, 10-pin Bowling, Skiing and Hoola-hoop!
The fitness package is very impressive, as it weighs you and produces your BMI. My husband had to viist the Doctor's Surgery the other day to have some tests, and the BMI the Nurse produced for him exactly matched that of the Wii. The balance activities are really challenging and fun to do. In fact, all elements of PD difficulties are covered in one sport or another.
Today I created a 2nd Me (known as Mii) so that I could have a left-handed version of myself - as this is my PD side. Playing Tennis left-handed is not only brilliant for brain/eye/hand coordination but also helps to build the arm muscles which tend to be used less.
I cannot speak more highly of this activity and suggest all PD members go out 9am tomorrow and treat themselves! You won't regret it!!

It depends whether you shop online, at Supermarkets or Electrical Stores. We went to a large National Electrical Chain and bought the package for about £250 - a lot of money, but it is an amazingly worthwhile purchase if you can run to it ( no pun intended). Amazon may have some good deals. The Wiifit disc we bought as an extra - that's the one with the balance activities, yoga and down-hill skiing!!
Good luck!

Sorry - I didn't answer your question - the minimum package could be the basic console and the disc that comes with it - Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Bowling, Boxing etc. You can then judge whether to buy the Wiifit board later on..It really depends how your PD presents itself and what motivates you.

I purchased a Wii for £219 online in middle of October. The package included the Balance Board and Wii Fit & Wii Sports software. Please pm me if you would like to have the name of the site - just checked before posting this message and its still available at the same price just now. There is no P&P to pay either. I have used the Wii every day and am feeling stronger and my balance is improving. It's certainly challenging and great fun. Another plus is that I am also losing weight (8lbs so far) . Best wishes Sue xx

I bought a Wii package on offer at Argos last week and have already found a bonus in that I'm being visited more often by our children and grandchildren as well as a few over-70's friends. I bought the Fit with free balance board and the console which included Sport Resort - all for around £250 and no need for delivery charge as I was able to pick it up at local store.
It's great when you are not feeling up to exercising you can be the 'cheering audience' keeping brain and conversation occupied instead of feeling left out. Thank you Santa!

Hi I've had a Wii basic set for over a year now - tennis, golf, baseball, boxing, bowling - and was given the Wii fit board in January for my 60th which has step exercises, jogging (walking), yoga, boxercise and loads of other things including hula hoop and lots of balancing games. I have to say that my balance has improved and I can now move my head faster without going dizzy and I can bend down and pick something up of the floor without feelilng as if the floor is coming up to meet me. I also feel fitter even though I haven't lost weight. I try to use it at least 4 times a week doing different exercises each time so that each week my whole body has had some form of movment. I think its a brilliant way for someone who never knows how they will feel from one day to the next to get some quality exercise.

I would like to say thanks to the people who sent in info on Wii. I bought one last week and can see how useful it will be at helping with balance problems etc. It is quite understandable that it is good for depression as we have had many a good laugh in just a few days. My daughter says it is worth every penny just to see her Dad and I laughing after some difficult weeks. We have also had very keen interest from our grandchildren, and I am sure we will be seeing more of them than usual! So anyone just thinking of getting a Wii dont hesitate to go ahead.

Hi
With all the positive comments about the Wii exercise programme I asked my husband for a Wii fit board for Christmas, and miracle of miracles, he actually got me one! I've used it today and found it quite fun. Now all I have to do is to try and use it every day. (I suspect that will depend how tired am after work, and if no one is watching the tv.)
Happy New Year
