My husband has had parkinsons for 20 years. He has now got dimentia. He never discusses things anymore, and always moans at the grandchildren. He never use to be this way.
Yesterday my son and myself, had a talk with him, and we have thought of a way to get him talking to the granchildren at least.
We are going to get him to sort out all his photos of when he was younger and when he was in the air force, and put them in a tin. everytime the granchildren come over, we will get him to try and talk to them about his past. Seeing photos perhaps may help. He has so many stories to tell, especially when he was in Australia at the atom bomb tests. I only hope this works, as I don't want him to be remembered as the grumpy grandad. If anyone else has found something that works, please let us know. Thanks. Barb x

What a good idea - sounds like a really creative way to try and help with a better relationship, and interesting for him too, as well as the grandchildren - hope it goes well!
