Write me a poem!

Look at some letters and turn into words,
Mention some flowers or maybe some birds.
Peer all around you, its nature at work,
Beauty and wonder or some little quirk!

Out in the garden will show you delights,
Flowering roses or bumble bee flights.
Bask in the sunshine or glow of the moon,
Why do they sparkle and go down too soon!
Stars in the heavens will twinkle your eye,
Wandering comets will keep zooming by!

Rural or urban there’s things to be seen,
Out in the country where life is all green.
Even in cities a verse can be found,
Look through the concrete and then all around!

Thanks turnip - that is on first page at the moment by way of introduction - I have already got a booklet of twenty A5 pages.

Here is one of posh-bird's that I have chosen but there will be more.

xx

I sense your emotion deep inside
A feeling that you can not hide

Despair can and will be suppressed
Making you sad and very depressed

Embrace each day with positive thoughts
Even when PD makes you out of sorts

Let all of us help each other and find
In this corner, friends and peace of mind

Come to this tranquil place and write
Poems, for us, a great delight.

So I hope you have a brighter day
And whatever you do, don't go away

Hi Lin,
Have just spent the last 2 hours trawling back through the poetry threads. What a difficult task it is unearthing all the hidden poems, then selecting favourites.Have earmarked a few,but hope there is no time limit at moment, there are so many I could choose.
You must have a headache

Like Titan I got lost in reading everyones previous posts and have spent sometime I read this one and remembered how much I liked it! so here it is a small contribution.

OPHELIA

Tragic Ophelia where are you bound? all for the love of sweet flowers
Your corpse perfumed by pure waters and petals essence
Wherever you be bound with your tresses flowing round your lifeless
Form died for love beauty.

In Denmark's flowing waters deep drifting as though in sleep
you dream? What spectres prance in your spirits eye
do you dream when you die?

The verdant flora around you flows, filling hair with lush green bows
Blooms which were your desire now forms a floating funeral pyre
Fair the well o beautiful maid by chance misfortune cruelly slain
as you pass serenely by your voice gone with a plaintive cry.

Sweet Ophelia go to your rest the fatal bloom clutched to your breast.

LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN I'm all eggcited.........This won a competition on a writers site. I posted this and didn't think it stood a chance. Honestly didn't think it was all that good. I am posting it here for your consideration but I think it is too long!!!!

Broken Sleep, broken Dreams.

I looked at the clock and it is way past sleep

The ghosts are gathering outside my door

Patterns of rain across the window panes

While the shadows dance on the floors

Away in the distance I can see city lights

I have seen them shine from above and below

A yellow dome that covers the metropolis

Makes me wonder about people I don’t know.

Lovers embrace in the darkness of doorways

Cats leave their catch and go on the prowl

People of the night sidle down alley ways

And of in the distance I hear a dog howl

A cop whistles a tune while walking his beat

Cars pass by with wipers in perfect time

All nights are the same I only hear rain

As the clock tick tocks to his song.

The tune he is whistling is Lili Marlene

It is the time of the demons and doubt

They come in their hordes when eyes close

Tearing at my flesh invading my space

While he taunts me with secrets he knows.

Faint scratching, terror within and without,

Heart thumping the blood through my veins

Fear reaches up through the floorboards

As the song melts away yet remains.

The city mocks me with it’s laughter

When did I last laugh with ease

There once was a time for pleasure

It is now lost in the tendrils of disease.

I will arise and go there

Go before the dawn is in the sky

The darkness will hide me from loved ones

A letter will suffice for goodbye

If you should come in search of me

Journey to the west of the isle

Look for the Mountain where he prayed

Follow the river for a few miles

There in a cottage beneath the mountain

You will find me within sight of the sea

It is the place where I am happiest

Where my forefathers fought to be free

Two brothers lie in the graveyard

Their stone worn smooth by the rain.

Once more we will find some peace

And I will be allowed to be me, once again.

I know where all the flowers have gone.

By Ali J.

god looked around his gardin
and found me a empty space
he then looked down upon the earth
and saw me tired face
he put his arms around me
and lifted me to rest
he new i was suffering
he new i was in pain
he new i would never get well on earth agin
he saw the road was getting ruff
and the hills so hard to climb
so he closed me weary eye lids and whispered
peace be thine
it broke ur hearts to loose me
but i did not go alone
for part of u went with me
the day god called me home
