By the way - will someone else start a June thread - I can't - unless I do it now.
I challenge you all to a Queen type poem please.

PB, I have just read your uncle’s poem (and the circumstances surrounding it) and I have to say it is one of the most exquisite examples of romantic love I have ever come across.
Thank you for posting it.

Great news Lin, it should mean you will be on the calendar!
I just finished reading PB's Uncles poem to Neil and we both had a tears in our eyes. True poetry.

Thank you Lily and Bogman the poem moved me also. Proud of my Uncle for been able to put his inner most feelings into a moving poem which came from his heart.

After PB's uncles poem this seems trite, but when you need to get something off your chest!
Blue Badge Blues
Way back in the darker days
In December’s winter ways
I was urged to make
Application for health’s sake
Get a badge coloured blue
‘To make life easier for you’
Well that was way back when
That was now and this is then
Began to think it’s been awhile
Maybe blue is out of style
People here said just shout
You will get a badge no doubt
People have them when backs are bad
Some overweight or just real sad
So thought after all this time
Give them a ring it’s no crime
So ring up and when I call
Expecting them to just say
Yes sir it’s on it’s way
But that’s not what I get
No sir they say no, not yet
Pd is discretionary
Not like backs or dodgy knee
So if you still need the blue
Tell you what you need to do
Turn up here an be assessed
Think were going to guess the rest!
So on those days when I'm worn
Moving slowly don't heap on scorn
No wobbly knee, no bad back
But my health is out of whack
So if conditions discretionary
Can you take it away from me?
