Ahhh. Life in IT. One minute the hero, next the villian. Do I miss it. Nope. Would I have swapped it for any other career? Nope.

You can please some of the people some of the time, and all of the people all of the time. But you cant please some ... all ...no that's not right.

ahem

You can please all of the people all of the time, and some of the people some of the time. But you cant please some ... all ...no that's not right either.

Remember you guys in IT are the best ... we have got. Those were the nicest post deletions I ever had in a forum, and well deserved they were too. Didn't do me any harm.

As ever, Ezinda, you are more than welcome.

If you, or any of the IT team are passing feel free to drop in for some chocolate cake ... which you can pick up from Freshco's. The 'Serves 24' Triple Chocolate Layer Celebration Cake is highly recommended. Costs £9.99.

Oh almost forgot, get the cream first cos its at the beginning of Freshco's and the cakes at the end. Double, Extra Thick Double(Triple), Clotted, Whipped or Squirty. Anything less is for coffee (which you will find in the middle somewhere (decaf)). If your looking for hot fudge sauce, good luck I haven't found it yet.

NB Leftover cake, cream, coffee non-returnable. Also a fee of £5 per kettle boiling, but hey, you guys have an expenses budget. Water doesn't boil itself y'know.

... oooh the golfs on, no time to sit and chat.

oooh remember Serves 24, the cutting stare when presented with the 'Serves 16' often offends.

NO MED THREAD

Every so often someone pops up and says they have been diagnosed x years and are still not taking meds. I always wonder if these people attribute this to any other ways they have of managing pd. Do they take supplements, do they eat lots of greens, do they see certain practitioners, do they excercise, pray, meditate, are they just being stubborn....
My husband has the blessing of his neuro to stay off meds at the moment as his progression is slow. We are currently both having a go at the fasting regime mentioned by someone else on the forum and have BOTH noticed an increase in energy after a week.
I know there is a treatments thread but I reckon if there was a no med thread people who are hanging may come forward for more discussions which would be interesting to us hold backers.
I'll copy this into the suggestions thread as well.

Hello. As a newbie, I was wondering if I could suggest that the forum has a section for Employment separate from the Benefits section. I would find it very useful to learn how others are coping with continuing to work with PD. I do appreciate that there is overlap and some people may work and be on benefits, but then all the sections overlap. Just a thought.

Parkwife. I agree with your suggestion. I would like such a thread too. Most people who are on meds don't further any discussions on non med treatment, which is understandable. However, I know there are quite a few of us, not on meds, who hold back sharing in discussions because of this. It would really be appreciated to have such a thread.

Hi parkwife, butterfly19553 and katesmum,

Thanks for your suggestions. I just want to start with a bit of a clarification. A thread is a topic within a section and all forum members have the ability to start one of these.

The sections (eg Meet and Greet) were designed to be overarching categories covering the wide subject areas that people might raise topics within.

On a thread for those not taking meds, I’m not sure that this really needs a new subject area. Why do you feel that a people might hold back on a thread but would be more encouraged by a topic area? It seems that this would fit either in Health and Wellbeing (which could cover exercise, non-medical approaches to health) or even the current Treatments section.

Katesmum, there is a slightly different with separating the Employment and Benefits thread. The section is designed to cover both issues. It is perfectly possible as the section stands to start a thread on how people are continuing work with PD. Many have in the past. There is quite a good example here: http://bit.ly/Quw8Vz

The two were also put together just because there tends to be a continuum between the experiences of those who are in work, those who can work with assistance, those considering what the options are for leaving work, those on benefits. It could be really confusing to separate the two and I’m not sure what the benefit would be.

I would also worry that there would not be sufficient posts in this area. As it stands the Employment and Benefits section of this forum tends to have fewer posts than any other section. I wonder if breaking it up further would make this worse?

Hi Ezinda,

There is a Chat Room post on page seven of Social, which is getting pushed back every time there is a new posting.

Would it be a good idea perhaps to have it as a fixture at the beginning of Social?

Just a thought.

Regards,

Mike.
