I too support Titans concerns regarding fairness, and not the only one to feel that ROS's post was indeed hostile.

http://www.parkinsons.org.uk/pdsforum/posts.aspx?forum=treatments&topic=nicotine-patches-as-treatment&page=1

However its time to move on and make more postive efforts to avoid getting caught up in these type of arguements.
So glad to see you still posting TITAN, hope to see you writing something creative tommorrow winkbiggrin

Hi Titan,
I've just had a chance to read this through.

I am very sorry that you feel singled out and that we've been unfair to you. This is obviously not what we're aiming for with our new community management style. It is important to us if you think we've been unfair.

As you mentioned, we sent two emails to you this week, the first even before we had closed the thread and both inviting you to let us know if you had any concerns. I wish that you had felt comfortable to do so.

Had we known how you felt then we could have discussed the post further, explained our reasoning a bit better and maybe replace any uncontroversial parts of the post. But we would need your permission to do this. If we've made a mistake we want to know but we can only fix it if you tell us.

We would still be happy to talk about it. But, I don't think it would be appropriate to do this on the forum because a) it involves other people and b) there's really no way to without re-posting the bits of the post that we thought should be removed. And that wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Please do give us a ring or contact us at forum@parkinsons.org.uk

It was once again a senseless, thoughtless, ignorant, malicious attack on an individual instead of a cool detached assessment of the contents of the post!

When I put on my headphones, adjust the microphone, sit down and look at the screen I find that sometimes all I want to do is to let off steam. I find that sometimes the pressure of having to think really hard about what I'm going to say, how I'm going to say it so as to offend as few people as possible so utterly wearing that quite frankly I take off my headphones and switch off the computer. As far as I am aware PD comes with emotional hell: at least it does so with me. There's no point in sharing my true feelings if in so doing they have to be couched in such a way as to protect the sensitivities of others. I realise that this looks like a vote to allow all things to all people. It is not.
I am neither a rude nor insensitive person. I have a very well used and honed sense of humour as do most people who suffer from a progressive chronic condition. My plea is simple: treat us like adults and if you're lucky we may behave like adolescents on a bad day.
To be honest I feel straitjacketed by having to think so hard about what I write and how I write it. This does not mean that I'm unaware of good manners, civilised behaviour and respect for other people's sensibilities. I would like someone to trust me enough to take this for granted.

Hi mrs.t

Please just carry on as you are and do write as you see fit. It seems the 'art of protection not censorship' is a hard one but rest assured, unless you are personally attacking someone, or saying something that can be construed as criminal or illegal, your post will remain. Others may agree, like or dislike it, but that is never the basis for editing of posts, etc. And others will welcome your expression, I know. You'll see many examples of people expressing their feelings and thoughts, some even controversial... And you'll also see people disagreeing. Hopefully what you'll see less is personal attack. This is what we work towards.

Thank you.
Luis

I'm liking the way things are with the forum. I wouldn't fritter away money on upgrading at all.

Instead PUK should use the money for sticky tape, doughnuts and coffee. Some may prefer tea, but can't go throwing cash about willy-nilly. What is needed is better prioritization.

I don't know where this is coming from, I've just woke up.

This ramble is not PD related. I've always typed a lot of .... tap tap tap

What's that sooty, what, speak up, what .... etc, etc. (I know boys & girls I'm getting bored too. I need a new Gloovenpoopet. I'm going to downing st to insert my hand into D.C. and start getting things changed around here).

I feel a new thread coming on ...

I`ve put quite a long post on the recipe section and found that the buttons next to spell check don`t do what I expected so no bold, no italics and no underlining. I would find them useful for recipes plus a button for common symbols like half, quarter such as those I can use on Word.
Thank you

Hi hatknitter,
Thanks for your message.

Could you clarify what happens when you use the bold or italic buttons next to the spell check?

What normally happens is that tags (such as [b] or [/i]) will be added around the text. When the post appears on the forum the selected text will be in bold or italicised as the case may be.

Do try this and let me know of you continue to have problems.

As for the buttons that you suggested: Because we will be changing over the forum software shortly, we won't be making any major changes to our current system until then so in the meantime, perhaps you could continue writing out the fractions as you have been doing?

I hope this helps.
