Hi Welshburek,

Here are a couple of links i was sent from my pd social manager. The first two are about the new research project mentioned above (see Ezinda's post) and the last describes Parkinsons in relation to how a steam train operates!

Well it is over for another year.

I think this is a very important week and that the awareness project is for all of us to engage in. To my way of thinking if we were all to tell one person a day that you have Parkinson's then you are achieving the projects aim.

Alternatively if you are so inclined you can involve yourself in the official campaign or take on something yourself.

In the last seven days I approached the local paper having been asked to do so by our Chairperson. Result, a short article in the paper last Thursday.

I sent an email to the local Radio Station. Result, 20 minute interview publicising awareness week.

Two weeks ago I visited one of the local Sikh Temples. Invited to chat with one of the elders. Result, invited to run a stall at their Festival. Raised a small amount of money, met many beautiful people, got drenched just when it should have been starting, got fed much lovely grub and the three of us have been invited back again next year, God willing.

I know this does not suit everyone but it certainly took my mind of aches and pains even if I did spend a lot of the time in the loo!!lol

Dear Bogman,
You have my every admiration.
I intend to follow your advice and tell people that I have pd, rather than agree that I am somewhat under the weather, have maybe sprained my ankle etc etc. Might not be one /day though. I do not get to see that many people.
Keep up the brilliant work, and thank you

Hi all,
In the end, we had one of our most successful Parkinson's Awareness Weeks yet!

Not only did we have more record visits to our website and calls to our helpline, but over 1200 people have expressed their interest in participating in our groundbreaking Tracking Parkinson's study and we had more than 600 pieces of media coverage.

Read more about the week and let us know what activities you took part in on the Talk Parkinson's blog: http://talkparkinsons.blogspot.co.uk

There is also still a chance to participate in the Tracking Parkinson's study at http://www.parkinsons.org.uk/tracking

and to tell your story about what a cure would mean to you: http://findacure.parkinsons.org.uk

Thanks to everyone who got involved!
