Virgin London Marathon

Take part in 2011

  • Where: London
  • Distance: 26.2 miles
  • Minimum sponsorship: £1,700 for a guaranteed entry place. If you have your own place there is no minimum amount to raise.
  • Registration fee: £50 to secure a guaranteed entry place. This fee is non-refundable.

This race begins in Greenwich Park where you will see the Charlton Football Ground and the Cutty Sark, before crossing the famous Tower Bridge.

The route takes you to the financial district of Canary Wharf, before passing the Crown Jewels displayed in the historic Tower of London.

You will run past London Bridge, Tate Modern and the London Eye before finishing your final mile, where you will see the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.

We operate a ballot system for our places so please return your registration form by Friday 29 October 2010. All applicants - whether successful or not - will be notified by Friday 5 November.

We take into account the following information when deciding how we will allocate our places:

  • Whether you have Parkinson's or a connection to the condition
  • The details you provide on your plans to raise the minimum sponsorship

Get your own place in the ballot

The public ballot for the 2011 Virgin London Marathon is now closed.

The UK ballot system closed in a record 1 day, 2 days quicker than last year, when it reached 125,000 applicants. The Overseas ballot system also closed in record time having reached 5,500.

Applicants will be notified whether they've been successful or not in securing a place in the 2011 Virgin London Marathon in early October. If you're successful we'd love you to join the Parkinson's UK team.
