Sutton, Kingston and Epsom Working Age Group
We are part of the Sutton, Kingston and
Epsom Branch and you can view a list of forthcoming local
events on their branch events
page.
We formed in July 2005 for people of
working age with Parkinson's.
Our activities include:
- social events
- exchanging views and ideas about Parkinson's itself
- discussing our experience of
the drugs we have been prescribed
- providing an opportunity to be oneself
- forming strong
friendships
- provision of support to
people with Parkinson's and their carer
- gaining information on new
research, discoveries and progress in finding a solution to this
progressive and degenerative condition
For the past 2 years, we have benefited
enormously from updates presented by a research scientist
specialising in Parkinson's research,
from Kings Hospital. We've also had good feedback from dance
and Putkisto (Finnish) exercise classes.
The general view is that we stay positive,
particularly knowing that we are not alone and there are friends
who know exactly what we’re going through and are at the end of a
telephone should we need to talk.
We can’t promise you a cure but you’ll meet
some amazing people, get lots of sympathy and understanding and who
will lend you their support and infect you with their enthusiasm
and zest for life.
