Wales Join Us Tour - Day 5
Friday 15 April 2011
Llandudno
Our Llandudno Support Group had a
fundraising and information stand at Llandudno General Hospital all
Parkinson's Awareness Week.
Today
they were joined by the Lady Mayor of Llandudno and her consort to
welcome the Wales Join Us Tour car on
the last leg of the journey!
After talking to the group the Mayor has promised to push for
better services for people affected by Parkinson's wherever and whenever possible on
the various committees that she chairs.
The week-long raffle was drawn, Llandudno was added to the map
and the car was waved off on its way to the final stop.
Llanfairpwllgwyngyll
The tour ended at the town with the longest name!
Representatives of the Arfon and Môn
Branch along with Gill Wills, our information and support worker for
North West Wales hosted an information stand at the James Pringle
Weavers shop and visitor centre.
2 vintage cars - a 1965 Wolseley Hornet and a 1962 MGB Roadster
attracted people to the stand to learn more about Parkinson's and
the local support available.
2 members of the branch have also featured in local media
this week - Alan James was interviewed by the
Holyhead Anglesey Mail and Alan Parry featured in the
Caernarfon Denbigh Herald. A great week for awareness in the
top corner of Wales!
Albert Owen, MP and Joe Lock, a Labour candidate in the upcoming
Welsh Assembly elections helped to add the final piece to the
jigsaw.
500 miles, 20 stops, 29 groups added to our map - we've got
Wales covered!
