2011 elections in Wales

In May 2011 elections were held for the National Assembly for Wales. The Welsh Government has now been formed and information is on their website www.wales.gov.uk

Health and social care is devolved in Wales. This means that it's Assembly Members, and in particular the Welsh Government, who make decisions on health and social care.

What we're asking for - our manifesto

Our Wales manifesto 2011 says what we want the new Welsh Government to do for people affected by Parkinson's.

Get involved - people affected by Parkinson's

Ask your Assembly Member to support the pledges in the Parkinson's UK Wales manifesto

The National Assembly for Wales website provides details on who the newly elected Assembly Members are.

Invite your Assembly Member to your local group meeting

Jackie and Colin, with placard 'We need better services'If you're involved with your local Parkinson's UK branch or support group invite your Assembly Member to your meeting to discuss how they will represent you.

What your Assembly Member needs to know:

  • You live in their constituency/region.
  • Your branch or support group meets in their constituency/region and how many people attend meetings.
  • If you're happy to have a photo taken
  • If you will be publicising the meeting in the media
  • Any examples of good or bad care

Tell your story

If you include your personal story or experience in any contact with your Assembly Member they are more likely to respond.

Spread the word

We need as much support as possible. Tell friends and family about our manifesto and ask them to get involved.
