Provincial Grand Lodge of Glasgow donate £32,700
On Wednesday 30 November 2011 the second
St Andrew's Night Celebration was held by Provincial Grand Lodge in
Lodge Cadder Freestone's premises.
A large audience enjoyed a concert given by the Glasgow Phoenix
Choir.
Johnny Beattie MBE, one of Scotland's greats of stage and
screen, treated everyone to an impromptu stand up routine.
Johnny (middle-left) assisted the Provincial Grand Master,
Alistair Henderson (right), in handing over a cheque to Denise
McNiven - Scotland Fundraiser (left) and Katherine
Crawford - Scotland Manager (middle-right), for the
magnificent sum of £32,700.
£2,000 of the total donation will be donated to each of the
support groups at the Southern General
Hospital and Stobhill Hospital. The
remainder of the donation would help fund a research project at Edinburgh University led by Dr
Tilo Kunath.
North Berwick Golf Club
Thank you to the ladies of North Berwick Golf Club
who have chosen Parkinson's UK as their charity of the year. They
recently held a Ladies Annual Charity Golf Day which raised a
fantastic £6,000.
The day was well attended by many golfers from
the surrounding area and supported by local businesses.

Parkinson's UK local campaign saves Glasgow Lightburn
Hospital
Our Lightburn Glasgow East Support Group has saved the hospital
that houses their specialist Parkinson's service from closure.
It's an inspiring example of what people can achieve, despite
the challenges of living with Parkinson's. And it's an early Christmas present
for the people of East Glasgow.

Hardest Hit event on disability benefits, Edinburgh
A big thank you to everyone affected by Parkinson's
who came out in Edinburgh on Saturday 22 October 2011, as part
of the
Hardest Hit rallies and marches that took place across the
UK.
Around 5,000 people came out at rallies and marches across the
UK to show government just how unfair these cuts are.
The message to government was that people with disabilities and
conditions such as Parkinson's are being unfairly targeted by the
coalition government's cuts programme.
You can see all our photos from the weekend's marches and
rallies across the UK on our
Flickr page.
Scottish policy submissions
Three quarters of all Scottish legislation comes from Holyrood,
including all decisions on health and social care. These decisions
can affect people living with Parkinson's throughout Scotland.
We're working to ensure the needs of people affected by
Parkinson's are considered at every level - including the
Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, NHS Boards, local
authorities and other bodies. We do this in formal and informal
ways, in writing and in person.
Read our latest policy
submissions.

Act now for Fair Care in Scotland
Take action by emailing Scotland's Health Minister, Shona
Robison MSP. Ask her to improve NHS Parkinson's services in
Scotland by implementing the new NHS QIS Clinical
Standards for Neurological Health Services
This is the first action for people
based in Scotland in our Fair Care for
Parkinson's campaign.
This action aims to highlight the wide variation in access to
essential services and information for people with Parkinson's, and
increase the pressure for the Clinical Standards to be implemented
across Scotland.
The more people who email, the louder our voice will
be.
