Peter Jenner, Professor of Pharmacology at Kings College London will be giving a talk at the Darlington Branch meeting. Darlington Branch Chair, Pat said:

"Peter Jenner is a fantastic speaker who knows such a lot about Parkinson's and has the knack of being able to explain it all in layman's language. I'd really encourage everyone to come along to hear him, you don’t have to be a member."

Hardest Hit conference - Friday 1 June 2012
Newcastle Civic Centre

The Hardest Hit North East Coalition are holding a conference that will consider ways to take action against government cuts and examine their impact on people in the region.

The event is free to disabled people, their carers and those from charities or Trade Unions.

This conference is a follow-up to the Hardest Hit march in Newcastle that took place on Saturday 22 October 2011. It was part of the Hardest Hit rallies and marches that took place across the UK.

The main message of the march was to tell the government that people with disabilities and conditions such as Parkinson's are being unfairly targeted by the coalition government's cuts programme.

Leisure day - Saturday 30 June 2012
Westgate Sports College, Newcastle

Time: 1pm-4pm

A steering group of members, volunteers and staff are holding 3 separate leisure days, using funds donated to the North East region by the Masonic Grand Lodges in Northumberland and Durham.

The days are for anyone affected by Parkinson's. Each leisure day will feature a range of taster activities to help you keep fit and have fun, including badminton, dance, archery, circuits and unihoc. 

Entry is £5 per person (booked in advance with your choice of activities) and includes a free goody bag. The remaining 2 leisure days are still being finalised - they will take place in July and August, 1 in County Durham and 1 in Teesside.

Get involved in fundraising

There are so many ways that you can help us to help people affected by Parkinson's, and ensure people in the North East get the support they need.

  • Hold a Party for Parkinson's
    Supporter collecting money for Parkinson's UK
  • Involve your company, workplace or social club
    Whether you want to hold a one-off event or make us your charity of the year, we would love to hear from you. There are many exciting ways in which you and your colleagues and friends can get involved.
  • Hold your own event
    You may already be organising a local event - anything from an art exhibition to a weekend ramble. Why not support us by simply adding sponsorship, an auction or a raffle to your existing plans?
  • Trusts and foundations
    Help us to support more people with Parkinson's in the North East. Find out about opportunities to fund a range of projects in the region, from nursing posts to education initiatives.
