Poppy's exhibition to honour grandad who had Parkinson's

Poppy Hulse exhibition4 April 2012

Poppy Hulse, age 16, from Rotherhithe, put together a fantastic museum exhibition and musical performance at the Brunel Museum in March to raise awareness of Parkinson's, in memory of her grandfather Henry.

The exhibition reflected Henry's life with Parkinson's and his love of music, and was made up of 3 parts:

  • A short presentation explaining what Parkinson's is, its symptoms and effects.
  • A collection of photographs, drawings and texts exploring Poppy's family's experience of Parkinson's.
  • A short performance, with singing, dancing and hula hooping in recognition of Henry's work with young people.

Poppy Hulse exhibition March 2012All funds raised from the event go towards our vital work to find a cure, and improving the lives of those living with Parkinson's.

So far Poppy has raised an incredible £1,866, and you can still donate online at www.justgiving.com/Poppy-Hulse

Well done Poppy - a brilliant achievement!

Thanks go to Josh Holmes for the photographs.

Hardest Hit event on disability benefits, London

James and Claire holding our placard at the Hardest Hit on 22 October 2011A big thank you to everyone affected by Parkinson's who came out in London on Saturday 22 October 2011, as part of the Hardest Hit rallies and marches that took place across the UK.

Around 5,000 people came out at rallies and marches across the UK to show government just how unfair these cuts are.

The message to government was that people with disabilities and conditions such as Parkinson's are being unfairly targeted by the coalition government's cuts programme.

You can see all our photos from the weekend's marches and rallies across the UK on our Flickr page.
