Money raised through painting exhibition sales
1 December 2011
Artist Alasdair Rennie, from Steeple Morden, paints oil
seascapes, portraits and still life, usually around the theme of
reflection.
Alasdair's mother, Angela, has Parkinson's and so Alasdair and Mike Berry -
owner of the Ashwell Gallery
since 2003 - decided to donate a percentage of the sale of
paintings from their exhibition to Parkinson's UK.
The video below features Alasdair and Mike Berry presenting
Carol Stork, Eastern England Regional Fundraiser with a cheque for
£660 at the Ashwell Gallery. Also in the video is David McKee who
bought one of Alasdair's paintings.
Many thanks to Wendy Rose for the video which was produced
and featured on her eAshwell blog site.

Oar Raisers rise to the challenge for Parkinson's - December
2011
Chris
Howard and Tom Dignum from Cambridge are currently taking on
the challenge of a lifetime, by rowing across the Atlantic as
part of the 2011 Atlantic Rowing Race. Read our good luck Oar Raisers news story
On 25 November 2011, they left the
Canary Islands to make the 3,000-mile crossing, battling huge
waves, the weather and physical fatigue to achieve their
goal - and raise money for Parkinson's UK.

Hardest Hit event on disability benefits, Norwich
A big thank you to everyone affected by Parkinson's
who came out in Norwich on Saturday 22 October
2011, as part of the
Hardest Hit rallies and marches that took place across the
UK.
Around 5,000 people came out at rallies and marches across the
UK to show government just how unfair these cuts are.
The message to government was that people with disabilities and
conditions such as Parkinson's are being unfairly targeted by the
coalition government's cuts programme.
You can see all our photos from the weekend's marches and
rallies across the UK on our
Flickr page.
Stepping out for Parkinson's
On Sunday 14 August 2011, a group
of around 30 walkers, made up of officers from Norfolk Constabulary
and their friends and family, set off from Wells Quay on the North
Norfolk coast to walk 6 miles along the coastal route to
Morston Quay.
The walk was organised by PC Stephanie Armiger to raise funds
for Parkinson's research in support of a
colleague's father. Stephanie was delighted that so many
people were keen to sponsor them and with the support they
received from local organisations.
Together the group raised over £1,200 - a wonderful contribution
to our search for a cure. A big thank you to Stephanie and all
those who took part!
Rob's yearlong challenge for Parkinson's
Rob Goodchild of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, has always been an
active fundraiser. But this year he has undertaken a gruelling
set of challenges in support of people with Parkinson's.
His challenging year incorporated a tandem skydive, 2
treadmill marathons and a daunting 93-mile, dawn-til-dusk,
triathlon challenge along the North Norfolk Coast.
In July, he took on the infamous Tough Guy Challenge in
Staffordshire, and rounded off his marathon fundraising with
the Robin Hood Marathon in Nottingham on 11 September 2011.
Together with his partner, Ruth, he hopes to raise a fantastic
£3,000. There's still time to support Rob's fundraising at
