Looking after me - a course for carers
Course description
The Looking after me course helps carers to learn ways in which
they can look after their own health needs whilst they are caring
for another person and to cope with that caring situation.
The course helps people develop the confidence to take greater
control of their lives.
It also gives an opportunity to meet with others who share
similar experiences.
The course is open to any adult who is a carer. It is run in the
local community and is led by two volunteer tutors who have
experience of caring.
Topics include:
- relaxation techniques
- dealing with tiredness
- exercise
- eating healthily
- coping with depression
- communication with family, friends and professionals
- planning for the future.
Each session lasts for 2.5 hours.
