Branch Chair
This is a generic description for the volunteer role of Branch
Chair. Commitment requirements may vary slightly from branch to
branch.
Purpose of the role
To lead and guide the branch and ensure its work is carried out
sensitively and effectively. To maintain good communications
between the committee, branch members and the National Office.
Commitment expected
Approximately 8 hours per month. These mainly form attendance at
branch committee meetings and occasional events.
Description of tasks
- To ensure the branch fulfils the aims of Parkinson's UK
- To ensure committee meetings take place regularly
- To ensure full involvement of committee members in discussion
and decision making
- To ensure decisions reached at the committee are communicated
to members where appropriate
- To produce an annual report for the branch annual general
meeting
- To remain impartial in the decision making process
- To have a casting vote if required
- To ensure the branch work is organised in a way that takes into
consideration committee members' and volunteers' strengths, and
local needs
