With 55,000 runners taking part, the Great North Run is a truly iconic race.

The course runs from Newcastle to South Shields, and the atmosphere along the route is second to none!

Our 2012 team included Victoria Haworth (pictured right). She ran for her grandad who has Parkinson's.

Run for us

Our work is totally dependent on donations. Your support will help us find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's.

All our runners receive a fundraising pack, sponsorship forms and running vest. We'll support you through your training and fundraising, and be there to cheer you on the day.

I thought the atmosphere was fantastic. I was emotional at the end and I'm pleased to have been able to raise awareness of Parkinson's by taking part.

Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

With each charity place we ask for a registration fee of £35 and a minimum sponsorship of £350.

It's important to consider this carefully before applying - we rely on the sponsorship raised to fund our work improving the lives of people with Parkinson's.
