Facial expressions

Has anyone found advice on exercises to help deterioration of facial expressions? (The PD mask)

Hello Zatopec

Sorry that nobody has replied to your post yet. Does anyone have any advice they'd like to share with Zatopec?

You could ask your GP for a referral to a speech and language therapist. They will work with facial expression as well as speech so they may be able to advise on an exercise programme.

You can find more information in our free Speech and language therapy and Parkinson's information sheet http://www.parkinsons.org.uk/content/speech-and-language-therapy-information-sheet

I hope this helps.

Sharon

Hi Zatopec,

I have a stoical PD mask ;-( My local PD 'expert' told me to ''keep smiling''!

How did you get on concerning facial exercises? Anything worth mentioning?

Cheers,

James

John Argue wrote a book on exercising for PD. He has some exervises to train the musckes in the face. Its basically making exaggerated clown faces: angry, sad happy, timid. I think mr Argue did a great job. The book contains many helpful exercises and tips.
