Who the course is for
This education session is designed to give all levels of ward
and other hospital staff an improved understanding of the
challenges of supporting a patient with Parkinson's during their stay in hospital.
It's suitable for ward and other hospital-based staff including
nurses, therapists and junior doctors.

We will arrange a suitable day and time with you and deliver the
training solely for your staff at your organisation's venue.

Aims and learning outcomes
- To increase your knowledge and understanding of
Parkinson's
- To better understand the needs of people living with and caring
for people with Parkinson's
- To identify challenges associated with the symptoms of
Parkinson's, the role and side effects of medication and the
challenges faced by patients with Parkinson's in a hospital
environment
- To consider the resources available, including the role of
Parkinson's UK, to improve the quality of life of people with
Parkinson’s and their carers
On completion of the seminar, participants will be able
to:
- understand the key challenges of living with Parkinson's, such
as the challenges of mobility, communication, swallowing and the
importance of timely drug management
- Consider strategies to address a range of challenges such as
communication, falls, swallowing problems, drug management and
mental health issues
- Recognise the role of Parkinson's UK
- Evaluate their own practice and care of people with
Parkinson's

because of our commitment to deliver education to health
professionals across the UK.
Other information
The seminar consists of direct teaching and video clips.
A range of supporting literature, including booklets and fact
sheets, is available for each participant.
