Aims and learning outcomes
- To increase your knowledge and understanding of Parkinson's
- To better understand the needs of people living with and caring
for people with Parkinson's
- To identify challenges associated with the symptoms of
Parkinson's and the role and side effects of medication
- To consider strategies to meet the communication, cognitive and
mental health challenges of Parkinson's
- To consider the resources available, including the role of
Parkinson's UK, to improve the quality of life of people with
Parkinson's and their carers
On completion of the seminar, participants will be able
to:
- understand the key challenges of living with Parkinson's, such
as the challenges of mobility, communication, swallowing and the
importance of drug management
- Have an understanding of the effect that Parkinson's has on
housing and care
- Understand how Parkinson's can affect staff carrying out care
and housing assessments
- Consider strategies to address a range of challenges such as
communication, falls, swallowing problems, drug management and
mental health issues
- Recognise the role of Parkinson's UK
- Evaluate their own practice and support of people with
Parkinson's
Cost
£200
This is the total cost to your
organisation, not per person. This includes supporting literature
for each participant.
We have made a commitment to deliver education to health
and social care staff across the UK so our charges to external
agencies are very low.
Other information
The seminar consists of direct teaching, DVDs and interactive
workshops with case studies, plus a range of supporting literature,
including booklets and fact sheets.
Each participant will receive a certificate of
attendance.
