6.75 miles - You get the best of both worlds with this wonderful walk in East Devon. The coast here is magnificent, and you can combine a walk along the top of the cliffs with a riverside stroll along the River Otter - which is a haven for thousands of birds. The prehistoric cliffs are a dramatic sight! There are steep climbs followed by slow descents along the South West coastal path but the scenery is a glorious distraction.
Once you have walked part of the South West Coastal path you head through the picturesque village of Otterton full of thatched cottages and a working mill.
4 miles – Moderate. A flat route that follows the River Otter, a nature reserve teeming with wildlife, passing through pastureland reclaimed using the help of French prisoners from the Napoleonic Wars. Children will love the wildlife and the experience of the working mill, which is open to the public, free of charge.
1.2 miles - A superb walk, not too energetic but very rewarding, offering excellent views and bird watching opportunities along the estuary.
