Start Time: 9.30am
Join us on our sponsored walk in and around the historic city of Oxford. With three distances available - 1.3, 4 or 8 miles - there's a walk to suit everybody.
This year we have a brand new route for the 4 and 8 mile walks, where you can take in many of Oxford’s famous sights, including the Radcliffe Camera and Britain’s oldest museum, the Ashmolean, before strolling through Christ Church Meadow and walking beside the River Cherwell as you cross the Oxford University Parks.
Alternatively you can download and print our Oxford Walk for Parkinson's booking form (PDF, 435KB).
You'll receive a fundraising pack, sponsorship forms and T-shirt. We'll support you through your fundraising.
There's no minimum sponsorship required to take part in the walk, but we suggest that walkers aim to raise at least £50
The sponsorship raised from the walk will be going towards funding a research project looking beyond dopamine for better therapies, taking place at the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre. This research project will be looking at whether another chemical, called GABA, plays a role in the release of dopamine and whether drugs that mimic the effects of GABA could be used to improve some of the symptoms of Parkinson’s. If we’re fortunate enough to raise more than the total cost of this project, we will use the sponsorship raised to fund other research with just as much potential.
