Your Personal Best: staying active with a long-term condition
We're supporting Your Personal
Best - a campaign to encourage over 55s with a long-term
condition, such as Parkinson's, to keep
active.
This could be exercising or simple
activities like walking the dog, doing some gardening or even
running the hoover around the house. It all counts!
About
the Your Personal Best campaign
Your Personal Best is a national awareness campaign, which has
been developed and funded by GlaxoSmithKline, in association with
NHS London.
It aims to inspire the 7.78 million people over 55 with a
long-term health condition to lead a more active lifestyle.
Len Goodman and Arlene Phillips are the faces of the Your
Personal Best campaign.

Keeping active
We know that keeping active can be a challenge when you have Parkinson's.
But simple activities like walking the dog, gardening or even hoovering all count.
Your Personal Best is Inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic
Games.
The campaign encourages people to set personal and
realistic activity goals in order to lead a more active lifestyle
and help them achieve their personal best.
We know that keeping active can be a challenge when you have
Parkinson's but it can help to maintain movement abilities,
strengthen muscles and build up general
health and fitness.
Speak to your healthcare professional about working out a
programme of exercise that’s right for you.

Your Personal Best has developed
resources for healthcare professionals to help their patients
with long-term conditions to be more active.
