Could you be a trustee? Positions in England

An election will be held this year for 2 of our trustee seats, in England.

We'd like to invite Parkinson's UK members who live in England and believe they meet the demands of the role to stand for these positions.

Closing date for completed nomination forms: Friday 7 June 2013

About the role of trustee

The board is multi-talented and each trustee brings their own skills and experience.

I gained a lot of satisfaction from being part of such a committed team.

Iain Young, Chair of the Nominations Panel and former Trustee for Scotland

Our trustees are at the top of the organisation and are responsible for the overall governance and management of Parkinson's UK.

They set the strategy and direction for the charity as well as ensuring its legal and financial integrity. It is under their guidance and leadership that the charity has made its recent progress.

Trustees are unpaid, but reasonable out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed. All of our current trustees say they get enormous job satisfaction from their role.

Members living in England will be invited to cast their vote for their preferred candidate.

The result will be announced at our AGM in September.

Who can apply

To apply to join us you must:

  • live in England
  • not have been employed or received payment for services from the charity in the past 3 years (except for expenses)
  • have been a member of the charity for at least the last 12 months continuously

Opportunities to see the board in action

The May meeting of the board will be open to members to sit as observers and see how the board works.

We will be holding an information session for potential candidates. This will allow you to learn more about the work of the board and meet current trustees and members of staff.

All candidates will be invited to an informal interview to help them evaluate their suitability for the role and decide whether to put themselves forward for election.
