Our brand journey
In April 2010 we changed from the Parkinson's Disease Society to
Parkinson's UK.
We did this so we can reach everyone affected by
Parkinson’s and find a cure more quickly.
Our new brand means clearly
defining who we are, as well as updating
how we write and how we look.
How we've developed our new brand
Our brand project was
a staged process split into 4 main phases:
Here's a bit more about what happened in each phase.
Research
We worked out how much we needed to change. We talked and
listened to lots of people to find out how we can improve what we do and what we need to change to reach
out to everyone affected by Parkinson's.
Defining the organisation
Our research and consultation with people helped us identify a
clear vision for the future, and new
values that express our personality.
We created a new way of describing what the organisation is all
about and tested names and straplines with people.
Creative development
We tested a range of creative concepts and ideas with a wide
range of people.
We picked the option which best expressed our personality and
had the widest appeal to both new and existing audiences.
Roll out of the new brand
On 10 February 2010 we rolled out the new brand and our plans for
2010-2014 to our staff and our members in a series of
Parkinson's UK Uncovered events across the country.
On 8 April 2010 Parkinson's UK went public, with this website
having a fresh new look.

Richard Tyner’s video diaries
Richard Tyner, Chair of our Peterborough
Branch, followed the project in his video diaries.
Richard goes to London to find out what our brand project is all
about.
Richard returns to London to find out what's been happening
since his last visit.
