Campaign for specialist Parkinson's nurses
We believe everyone with Parkinson's should be able to see a
specialist Parkinson's nurse.
Each year our members tell us how crucial Parkinson's nurses are
and how much of a difference they make to their lives.
Fair Care for Parkinson's
Access to a Parkinson's nurse is a key element in
our Fair Care for Parkinson's campaign.
This campaign sets out our demands for good quality health and
social care for people with Parkinson's.
We are so passionate about this that we have invested over
£8million in specialist Parkinson's nurse posts. Even with this
investment, thousands of people with Parkinson's have still never
seen a Parkinson's nurse.
Once we have a nurse in post we work with them and the health
service to make sure they can collect the evidence to show the
value of their post.
We need to make sure that when health services make cuts because
of financial problems, it is not the specialist nurse posts that
are under threat.
We want to work with the health services to show them that by
not having a specialist nurse life can be far harder for people
with Parkinson's, and the costs to health and social care
services are a lot more overall.
We've also joined forces with the Royal College of Nursing and
other leading health organisations to campaign for guaranteed
access to specialist nurses for all people with long-term
conditions.
