Changes to the NHS in England
We need your help to make sure that changes to the NHS in
England improve health and social care for people affected by
Parkinson's.
Write to your MP and ask them to speak up for Parkinson's in Parliament.
These changes are taking place because of the
Health and Social Care Bill, which is in Parliament at the
moment.
Our campaigning so far
We've been talking to MPs and members of the House of Lords so
that they understand what people with Parkinson's need.
We were very pleased when Paul Burstow, Minister for Care
Services, agreed that neurology networks are necessary.
These neurology networks will provide expert neurological advice
from people working in health and social care about what the
NHS should provide for people with Parkinson's.
We still need more changes
We still want to see some changes made to the Health and Social
Care Bill. We want to make sure that clinical commissioning groups
work together to commission services like specialist Parkinson's nurses.
We're lobbying the House of Lords to try and change the bill.
Earl Howe and Baroness Northover are responsible for taking the
bill through the House of Lords.
Clinical commissioning groups will be responsible for deciding
what health services are available.
We're worried that some of them might be too small to have
enough money and expertise to do this properly.
