Ask your politician to support Parkinson's research
Politicians in parliaments and assemblies across the UK are
signing statements and motions to show their support for
Parkinson's research.
You can write to your local MP, Member of the Scottish
Parliament or National Assembly for Wales Member to ask them
to sign up.
We have asked a number of politicians to table Early Day Motions
(EDMs) and Statements of Opinion for us during Parkinson's Awareness Week 2009 that outline
some of our research achievements over
the last 4 decades. This will help to raise politicians' awareness
of this vital area of our work.
In 2009, the Parkinson's Disease
Society's 40th Anniversary year, we are particularly
focusing on the need for progress towards a cure for
Parkinson's.
Early Day Motions or Statements of Opinion are formal statements
tabled by elected politicians in their respective parliaments or
assemblies. The aim is to draw attention to specific events or
campaigns and to demonstrate the extent of parliamentary support
for a particular cause or point of view. Other politicians then add
their signature to the motion to show their support.
