Walk a wonder of the world for Parkinson's
19 February 2010
Our Trek China challenge for 2010 is
now open for entry. It is one of our most exciting fundraising
challenges of the year, when a team of trekkers will walk the Great
Wall of China from 18-26 September.
I have Parkinson's and to meet other people with the condition while visiting China was a truly life changing experience.
Karen Swindells, Trek China 2009 team member
We are looking for people to join the team for this challenge of
a lifetime which will raise vital funds for the charity.
Paul Jackson-Clark, Fundraising Director at the Parkinson’s
Disease Society, said:
"We are totally dependent on donations and all sponsorship
raised by this trek will be spent helping people affected by
Parkinson's.
Last year our thirty-strong team raised an incredible
£140,000 and we want to smash that target this year."
Stunning scenery
Tracing the crests of mountains, the Great Wall of China offers
a challenging route with sensational views.
The team will visit one of the world's most famous landmarks and
experience China in its most unspoilt state.
The trek covers 80km of stunning terrain and team members will
get to see remote parts of the Wall that most visitors never
reach.
Karen Swindells, 49, a Trek China 2009 team member, said: "I
have Parkinson's and to meet other people with the condition while
visiting China was a truly life changing experience.
I'm so pleased to have helped make a difference to the lives of
people living with Parkinson's."
