Former Miss UK to skydive for Parkinson's

5 February 2010

Former Miss UK, Miss Wales and ex-Gladiators star Amy Guy will jump out of a plane for the first time in April to help launch Parkinson's Awareness Week 2010 (19-25 April).

Amy GuyAmy will join our Parachute for Parkinson's skydive team on 17 April in Wiltshire. The team hopes to raise over £15,000 and also includes our Chief Executive, Steve Ford and our Fundraising Director, Paul Jackson-Clark.

Perfect challenge

Amy, who was most famous as Siren from the TV series Gladiators, said:

"This is the perfect challenge for me. I love extreme sports and the charity means a lot to me because my mum has Parkinson's."

I've already started fundraising and can't wait to get up in the air to help launch Parkinson's Awareness Week.

Paul Jackson-Clark, our Fundraising Director, adds:

"Our work is totally dependent on donations. All of the skydivers will be helping our work to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's.

Places left

There are still a few places left on the challenge. No previous experience is required. To find out more and take the challenge contact Sarah 020 7963 9305, events@parkinsons.org.uk

This is a truly exhilarating, once in a lifetime challenge. The team of divers will enjoy at least 45 seconds freefall followed by a peaceful 5 minute parachute ride to the landing point, in front of their friends and family.
