A preview of our new name and look
23 February 2010
From 8 April, we are changing our name to Parkinson's
UK. Not only that, the new name comes with a fresh new identity and
a bold strategy for the charity.
The new name and brand have been developed because people don't
know enough about Parkinson's, or about what we do. This
includes GPs and health professionals, as well as the general
public.
Our ambitious plans
The hopes and views of people affected by Parkinson's have
helped us clarify our vision for the future – to find a cure, and
improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's.
We want to raise over £110million in the next 5 years to fund
our ambitious plans to increase awareness of the condition, fund
research to find a cure and reach everyone affected by
Parkinson's.
Giving people with Parkinson's a voice
People affected by Parkinson's are at the heart of the new
brand, which uses photography of real people, rather than models,
along with personal messages of hope and determination.

Karen Rose, 47, is a member of our Bristol Branch and has young onset Parkinson's.
She was involved in the development of the new brand.
My husband Mike and I felt privileged to be featured. The photographs show the positive, friendly support that is there for everyone affected by Parkinson's.
Karen comments:
"My husband Mike and I felt privileged to be featured in the new
photography. The photographs show the positive, friendly support
that is there for everyone affected by Parkinson's.
"The general public know very little about Parkinson's and
usually associate it with the elderly. But there are plenty of
younger people with the condition, like me.
"It is important to reach everyone living with Parkinson's and
to increase support for research which we hope will lead to a
breakthrough."
The new identity, put together by creative communications
consultancy The Team, also uses a very vivid blue and a distinctive
stencil font.
Reaching out
Steve Ford, our Chief Executive, adds:
"I am really excited by our new identity - Parkinson's UK.
"It highlights our commitment to change attitudes to
Parkinson's, fund cutting edge research to find a cure and inspire
people to join us.
"It will allow the voice of people living with Parkinson's to be
heard much more clearly and make sure that everyone knows that
because we are here, no one has to face Parkinson's alone."
