Congratulations to PDS Flora London Marathon team
28 April 2009
The Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS) congratulates
its team of 202 runners, who all completed the 2009 Flora
London Marathon on Sunday 26 April.
The team included the Hocking family from Exeter. The five
siblings, Rosie, Hannah, Sarah, Tom and Debs, who were running
because their father is living with Parkinson's, all finished the
race in under 6 hours.
Mark Ashley from Peterborough and Katrina Elliott from Colchester,
who both have Parkinson's, also crossed the
finish line near Westminster.
Paul Jackson-Clark, Director of Fundraising for the Parkinson's
Disease Society, said:
"We are extremely grateful to every single one of our runners for
their dedication and determination.
"The Flora London Marathon is our biggest fundraising event of the
year, and we hope to raise £275,000 to support our work.
"We are delighted that so many chose to race for the PDS in our
40th Anniversary year."
The London Marathon coincided with this year's Parkinson's Awareness Week (20–26 April
2009). During the week PDS branches and support groups have
been working to raise awareness and funds to help people living
with Parkinson's.
