First ever PDS10K a huge success
24 November 2009
Over 400 people battled the rain on Sunday in our first ever
PDS10K run, raising over £20,000 to help support people affected by
Parkinson's.
It was great to run for such a great cause - I will be back again next year.
Ian Mansell, PDS10K winner
Thank you to all our runners who made the event such a huge
success.
The race took place at the National Water Sports Centre in
Nottingham. The route took runners twice around the lake before
reaching the finish line where each runner was presented with a
medal.
The winners
Congratulations to Ian Mansell, who won the men's race in a
time of 36.29 minutes, and Nicola Clay, who won the women's
race in 38.24 minutes.
Ian Mansell said:
"I enjoyed the race and thought it was very well organised.
"The commentary was brilliant and the course was pleasant even
though the weather wasn't.
"It was great to run for such a great cause - I will be back
again next year."

PDS-funded researchers
38 runners from 7 university research teams funded by the
Parkinson's Disease Society took part in the race.
Adam Duggleby from Nottingham University was the fastest of the
researchers, finishing the race in 16th place in a time of 41.41
minutes.
It is the dedication of our fundraisers that really makes a difference to our work.
Dr Kieran Breen, Director of Research and Development
With Adam's help, the Nottingham University runners were the
fastest research team.
Dedication of our fundraisers
The prizes for the research teams were awarded by Dr Kieran
Breen, our Director of Research and Development, who said:
"Research funded by the Parkinson's Disease Society is totally
dependent on voluntary donations.
"It is the dedication of our fundraisers that really makes a
difference to the work we do for people with Parkinson's."
