First 200 campaigners write to Gordon Brown

3 August 2009

More than 200 people have sent a letter to Prime Minister Gordon Brown as part of the Parkinson's Disease Society's Fair Care for Parkinson's campaign.

The Fair Care for Parkinson's campaign was launched less than a month ago in response to a Parliamentary report that uncovered just how bad services are for so many people with Parkinson's.

The Parkinson's Disease Society is calling for more effective monitoring of Parkinson's services to ensure they meet national guidelines and standards, an urgent review of the health and social care workforce, and stronger national and local leadership by government.

The letters urge Mr Brown to make sure that all people with Parkinson's and their carers get fair care and can access the health and social services they need. If you live in England and haven't written to him already, take action and visit our campaigning page to send a letter today.

Steve Ford, Chief Executive of the Parkinson's Disease Society, said:

"We are passionate about making sure that people with Parkinson's get the best possible care and support to help them manage their symptoms and get on with their lives.

"So join us and sign up to our Fair Care for Parkinson's campaign, write to Gordon Brown and help make sure that people living with Parkinson's get the services they need, wherever they live in the UK."
