Sir David Jones, former chairman of JJB Sports, was
featured in the
Yorkshire Post talking about having Parkinson’s and the impact
it’s had on his life.
Sir David spoke frankly about his experiences of the condition
over the last thirty years, and his passion for raising
awareness.
He said: "People are embarrassed about having Parkinson’s. Many
of them hide themselves away.
Speaking out
"I am determined to speak out for people with this condition; to
raise awareness but also to show people what can be achieved
despite having it."
"If people get the courage to go out and have a quality of life
after seeing what I have managed to achieve then I am happy."
Sir David stepped down as chairman of JJB Sports in January. He
was previously Chief Executive of Next and Grattan.
Sir David also spoke about Parkinson's UK, which "does a
brilliant job supporting those with the condition."
Clare Jones, daughter-in-law of Sir David, is running the
Virgin London

will join 211 other runners in the largest team that we have ever
entered into the marathon, which aims to raise over £260, 000.
