Parkinson's UK meets Sinemet company today
9 July 2010
We want to say a big thank you to everyone who has emailed MSD
UK, the manufacturer of Parkinson's drug Sinemet, as part of our
campaign to ask for clarity over the
shortage of the drug.
Over 370 people have now emailed MSD UK's medical director, Paul
Robinson.
Your actions count
We will be pressing MSD UK on what they are doing to manage the situation.
Val Buxton, Director of Policy, Campaigns and Information
As a direct result of your actions, MSD UK has firstly now
acknowledged that their communication needs to improve. Secondly,
they have agreed to meet with us today.
Val Buxton, our Director of Policy, Campaigns and Information,
comments:
"We will be pressing them on what they are doing to manage the
situation and to communicate directly with people affected by
it."
Working with professionals
We have also been working closely with professional
organisations.
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society has now published guidance on
their
Commitment to Pharmacy website to help pharmacists get
appropriate supplies.
