Royal Pharmaceutical Society calls for improvements to medicine
management
3 July 2012
We are keen to work with the RPS to make sure people with Parkinson's get their medication when they need it, no matter where they are.
Daiga Heisters, Head of Professional Engagement and Education
The Royal Pharmaceutical
Society (RPS) has recently published a report calling for
better medicine management when patients move between care
settings.
This is a key aim of our Get It On Time
campaign.
Keeping patients safe
The report outlines the results of a 6-month project run by the
RPS. This includes a
study of a service for people with Parkinson's in Leeds (PDF,
951KB).
It makes key recommendations that can be applied across the
NHS for making sure
people receive the right medication, when they need it, when they
move around in the healthcare system.
Get it on time
Daiga Heisters, our Head of Professional Engagement and
Education, commented:
"People with Parkinson's need their
medication on time, every time but still this can be a real issue
for those with the condition - especially when in hospital or
care facilities.
"We welcome this report and recommendations from the Royal
Pharmaceutical Society and are keen to work with them to make sure
people with Parkinson's get their medication when they need it, no
matter where they are."
