The Report on Radio 4 to feature Parkinson's case study

12 August 2010

Tonight, the BBC Radio 4 current affairs programme, The Report, investigates the controversy surrounding Work Capability Assessments - and our own case study John Birmingham, was interviewed as part of the feature.

This evening's programme investigates issues around health tests for Employment Support Allowance - which are increasingly (but often incorrectly) declaring people with serious long-term conditions as fit to work.

John was interviewed at length about living with Parkinson's and the difficulties he's experienced with the benefits system since retiring from a life-long career in engineering due to his worsening Parkinson's.

As well as John's contribution, the programme will be a really interesting overview of an ever-growing political and social issue and how it's having a real effect on people with conditions such as Parkinson's in local communities.
