Winners of the Mervyn Peake Awards were presented with their awards on Friday 9 July 2010, at Westminster Central Hall, London.

Chocolat author Joanne Harris (pictured right) joined Sebastian Peake, son of the late Mervyn Peake, to present the awards, which celebrate the creative talent of people with Parkinson's in art, poetry and photography.

Speaking at the awards, Steve Ford, our Chief Executive, said: "The creativity, passion and determination found in these entries are exactly the things that we need to capture to deliver our vision and that's why we are really grateful to everybody who has taken part."

About the awards

The Mervyn Peake Awards are held in memory of the late illustrator, writer and poet Mervyn Peake (1911-1968), whose works included Gormenghast and the Alice in Wonderland illustrations, and who developed Parkinson's in later life.

The awards are supported by the Peake family and were established in 2002.
