Join us to end the social care crisis in England
31 January 2012
Do you want to tell your MP that they need to stop talking and
start changing the unfair social care system in England?
Join us on Tuesday 6 March 2012 to meet
your MP in Westminster.
To find out how to take part in this lobby and join the
delegation of people with Parkinson's, contact Donna O'Brien in our

Reforming the social care system
People with Parkinson's and their
carers have been telling us for some time about their experiences
with social care. Many are not good.
You've been telling us how the current system often leaves you
with no or little support, or spending huge amounts of money, even
selling your homes, to pay for care.
Age UK's new Care in Crisis 2012 report has exposed that the
funding gap has increased by almost half a billion pounds in just
one year.
Opportunity for change
If you can't make it to London on 6 March, you can email your MP about social care.
Or sign Age UK's Care in Crisis petition.
But there is opportunity for real change. In April, the
Government will recommend reforms for the social care system in
England.
By putting into practice expert reports, like the Dilnot
Report, the Government could make the English system
fairer.
Simple things like a more generous means test and clear legal
entitlements to care and support are being proposed to the
Government, but they still need convincing.
We have been working as part of the Care and Support
Alliance, a movement of over 50 charities coming together to
demand these changes be implemented. But we need your help.
What if I can't make the lobby in London?
If you can't make it on 6 March, you can use our
simple online form to contact your MP about social
care.
Our colleagues at Age UK have set up a
Care in Crisis petition, on behalf of the Care and Support
Alliance. Can you help us reach 100,000 signatures?
